scene 2: Home (c. A Dubious Reunion)

Written for Noel MacDuffie’s dance theater piece, Soul Descending, this scene sees Abagail engaging with the ghost (or just a memory?) of her late husband, William, recently claimed by the sea.

Just as in the scene from Soul Descending, this piece is a duet between two elements, one familiar and grounded, the other exotic or otherworldly. The living Abigail dances with the ghostly William reaching out from the realm of the dead, while the familiar silver flute exchanges with the Middle Eastern nay (both played by Eran Glantz.) Also, the scene literally brought tears to audience eyes.
