Vienna in Bloom
This song is the first of a collaboration we have begun with Josh Brokaw. We have started working with other lyricists and musicians to see songs completed that we would not have thought of ourselves. We’re pretty excited to share what we come up with.
Josh Brokaw - lyrics
JV Andres - vocals, guitar
Veejay Andres - vocals, clarinet
Daniel Wilson - accordion
I, a petty thief
in this ancient city
still have the broken locket
you told that bowlegged cop it
was mine, the pictures inside
your father, his bride
look at me with eyes
more loving than mine
so breathe deep, breathe slow
no need to flinch
when my fingertips reach
the point of your elbow
German infomercials
mar my dress rehearsal
my eyes mirror bound
see her maudlin gown lost
in it, I’m dressed resplendent
in my tenement.
how long must I wait
to know our love’s fate?
We’ll meet ‘neath cathedral walls
where tourist’s jewels fall
into my grasp
and then I’ll ask
these vernal months
can’t be time enough
my life’s only love
lost to the waxing sun.
