I'll Watch the Shore
It wasn’t until I finished recording this track that I realized how great an influence the ocean has had on my songwriting.
I’LL WATCH THE SHORE
Keith Landry: Vocals, Guitar
Jessica Landry: Vocals
Brian Mooney: Piano
Liam Byrne: Drums
The gulls are casting shadows softly dancing on the sand
The angry surf’s reclaiming precious portions of the land
And every wild-eyed politician’s slowly moving in
The piece of turf we’re holding’s still the same its always been
We’ve dug in here before and we will dig in here again
I’ll watch the shore
And you watch the sea
We will hold the world off back to back
‘Til something sets us free
We’ll stand our ground
Beneath the blue sky
With these wax and feather wings
Someday we will fly
Everybody thinks they know what’s right and what’s gone wrong
It hasn’t been that easy now to tell for far too long
No matter how the medicine should stop me counting sheep
I can’t remember when I had a decent night of sleep
We both have miles left to go and promises to keep
I’ll watch the shore
And you watch the sea
We will hold the world off back to back
‘Til something sets us free
We’ll stand our ground
Beneath the blue sky
With these wax and feather wings
Someday you and I will fly
The tales of ancient titans were all true
They’ve taken up the names of banks and stocks
No heroes left except for me and you
To fight the cell phones, death and taxes in Pandora’s box
And when we find a moment we pretend’s a lasting peace
We’ll lie and watch the sun divide itself among the seas
Blues and pinks and yellows all dissolving with the light
Take up your arms, the devil’s coming in the dead of night
Stand with me believing hope alone can win a fight
I’ll watch the shore
And you watch the sea
We will hold the world off back to back
‘Til something sets us free
We’ll stand our ground
Beneath the blue sky
With these wax and feather wings
Someday you and I will fly
