Laying Low This Christmas (alternate version)
Keith Landry
Just a couple of different vocal choices so the vocal drop between the verses and the chorus isn’t so drastic…
LAYING LOW THIS CHRISTMAS
Times are still tough this December
And money, it don’t grow on trees
I’ve watched ‘em all fall since September
If I could, I’d be selling the leaves
We’ve been making ends meet on a shoestring
Trying to find all the work that we can
The girls know it’ll be a small Christmas
Old enough now that they understand
We’ll be laying low this Christmas
Homemade presents under the tree
There’ll be family and snow
And no place to go
This Christmas, we’re just gonna be
They’ll be putting out stockings like always
Milk and cookies for Santa’s long flight
I’d buy them the world if I could afford it
They’ll sleep better than I will tonight
But we’re still putting food on the table
We’ve been blessed with good health all year long
Some won’t see their own families this Christmas
For us, everyone’s where they belong
We’ll be laying low this Christmas
It’s a Wonderful Life on T.V.
A warm fire’s glow
On the faces I know
This Christmas, we’re just gonna be
A creche sitting out on a table
Surrounded by people I love
A step or two up from a stable
Blessed with the gifts from above
We’ll let the fire die on down to the embers
Till the red rolling light’s all we see
Times like this make you remember
The best things in life are still free
We’ll be laying low this Christmas
Homemade presents under the tree
There’ll be family and snow
And no place to go
This Christmas, we’re just gonna be
We’ll be laying low this Christmas
It’s a Wonderful Life on T.V.
A warm fire’s glow
On the faces I know
This Christmas, we’re just gonna be
What a beauty-full song, Keith! How wonderful if we could ALL "lay low" at Christmas and simply appreciate one another's presence and love! Thank you for gifting us with your lyrics and melodic sounds! Your is a true "Christmas Heart"!
