Forty days of rain
Last night the sky was burning red
It’s been hard just keeping sane
With all the voices in my head

A forty-night long test
Of an unrelenting mind
Waking I looked west
When you snuck up from behind

The sun came out today

When you’re only looking down
For forty days and forty nights
You just pray you’ll run aground
While you still have strength to fight

At the edges of the Earth
Staring into the abyss
So badly hoping for rebirth
Looking back I nearly missed

That the sun came out today
It might not come out tomorrow
