Too Many Winters (VERY rough)

So I’m eating fish and chips at an Irish restaurant waiting to play an open mic in Saratoga over at Caffe Lena thinking I hadn’t written anything new in a few weeks.
Then this pours out on a couple of napkins… No thinking allowed, just listening in to a conversation at the bar and firing down the ideas.
Warning: It really is rough… I only have the chorus memorized… And I even screw that up! I’m not sure if this will sound quite like the eventual final version, but thanks for listening!
TOO MANY WINTERS
You remember the first time you saw her pretty young face
And for once you believed in something near amazing grace
In that instant you remembered being that free
Now you’re coming to realize some things aren’t meant to be
She’s too young to know it could never work out
And you can’t afford the shadow of doubt
It’s time to back out
She’d need to be five years older than she is right now
Even then you’d need to be five years younger somehow
She’s a free spirit and she’d like to love you
But you’ve seen too many winters and she’s seen too few
Do you remember when you were first out on your own
Well she’s right there now finding herself all alone
You can’t let her fall for you, she’d never be the same
For the man she needs to meet and you’d only have you to blame
You know what you need to do, you’re right for what it’s worth
You can only control so much, you can’t change the year of your birth
She’d need to be five years older than she is right now
Even then you’d need to be five years younger somehow
She’s a free spirit and she’d love to love you
But you’ve seen too many winters and she’s seen too few
Ha, wrote this just like that? Well I may as well give up. Lovely indeed!
I truly apologize for the roughness of this song, but I'm testing to see if the best way to motivate myself to finish something off properly is to have something REALLY rough up here... So I can replace it QUICKLY with something done right.
