The Year Of King Richard
Letter Seventeen
There’s a story here. One day I’ll share it.
G - D - Am7 - C
In the year of upheaval
Pick up and start a life anew
Stare down the possibilities
Wonder what I’m meant to do
Am I the one
Who will be king?
In the year of betrothal
Coming into focus, what I’m meant to be
Rise up and take on the challenge
I hear the talk that I will be king
But do I want
To be the one
Who is king?
In the year of confusion
Knocked down, not sure I’ll rise again
They call it scarred, but smarter
It happens to us all, every now and then
But now I fear
It’s becoming clear
I won’t be king
Em - C
Em - C - D
But does it really matter?
Does it make me any less of me?
When I look into the mirror
I seem to like what I see
In the year of King Richard
Will I find some greater truth to divine?
Should I hear a call to action?
Or have I already found all I need to find?
Cause when I seek some higher purpose
I circle back to a peace of mind
And I find
That I don’t really seem to mind
I’m not the king
Em - C - D
Another great song, the music is really wonderful too. I love the banjo sound.
