How We Got Here

Hello peeps!
Long time no public activity from me.

I’ve been working on a bunch of stuff with the guitarist from my old band. None of its ready…

However, I’ve been experimenting with different ways of jamming and doing demos. And in the middle of it found I can quickly demo some stuff.

This one was recorded today using the Windows 11 Camera app. The video is on youtube, I’ve extacted the mp3 and put it here.

It’s not mastered or anything. Single mic (SM7B) in front of me and guitar. PreSonus STUDIO 68C interface, windows camera app.

I wrote the song 10th December 2023, while I was in a Tom Petty mood. I’m working up an americana-type arrangement with the guitarist.

How We Got Here - A A J Russe

We can change a lot of things
Tell a tall tale of where we come from
But there’s one thing we can’t erase
How we got here

When you hear your penny drop
And you doubt that it was all you wanted
Is there a chance that we forgot
How we got here

Travelling on a little
Just a little further
Further than we both could possibly imagine
Holding hands while we
Try to find our way home
Let’s not forget
That’s how we got here

Sometimes the meaning can get lost
That’s because we don’t recall the journey
Have we supressed how much it cost us
How we got here

Our legs remember every mile
But now it seems to me that no one hears us
No one knows what makes us smile
And how we got here

We travelled on a little
Just a little further
Further than we both could possibly imagine
We held hands while we
Finally found our way home
We don’t forget
That’s how we got here

We hold hands now we
Finally find our way home
We won’t forget
That’s how we got here

Lovely to hear your wonderful voice here again. Love this spare arrangement. Great sentiment in your lyrics. Life’s a journey indeed! I hope life is treating you well.
