Every song has a story.

The old, broken guitar has been retired to the living room as a reminder of yesterdays. To replace it, I bought a pair of budget Yamaha guitars and decided to break them in learning this song.

Only twice in my life can I remember crying when learning that a musician had died: Karen Carpenter and Gary Brooker. Two amazing vocalists, musicians and souls. I would have never dreamed of trying to actually record one of their songs.

And yet this morning I woke up to a fiery sore throat, an empty bottle of Laphroaig, and this attempt at the Procol Harum classic. It is mixed like somebody who had finished half a bottle of scotch thought they were a producer, and I apparently didn’t save the project so …
