a tribute to captain beefheart/ don van vliet whilst quietly celebrating my birthday i heard of the good captains passing, so i wrote this in tribute to him.
My captain
Undercover
Underground
Off the beaten track
Blazing new trails
For us to follow
For you to follow
If you dare
If you just understand
Can grasp
Just a tiny fraction
Of his majesty

My captain
Dared to dare
Made me stop and think
Pushed the boundaries
The envelope
Can’t you see
Or find his wavelength

My captain
Was difficult
But so rewarding
You never knew
What you where getting
Or if you’d even like it
He made you
Work for your pleasure
You had to let it grow
Let it seep in
To your very being
To your very soul
