Shadow Of The Cross
The line “There’s nothing outside the shadow of the cross” came to me from Fr. Donald Calloway. It was something he said in an interview on EWTM with Marcus Grodi. I saw this in January of 2019 and made a note of it because i thought it would be a good subject for a song. I had a different melody for the line at first but then in December had a completely different way to sing it after picking up my wife’s tenor ukulele. From there the rest of the song came very quickly. I recorded it with two ukuleles - one tenor and the other a baritone. The solo lines are played on the tenor on a third track.
SHADOW OF THE CROSS
C——————————G/D——-F
There’s nothing outside
C——————————G/D——-F
the shadow of the cross
C——————————G/D——-F
And nothing can change
C——————————F/C——-C
His saving love
C——————— G/D——-F
His Spirit will blow
C———————G/D——-F
Wherever He wills
C———————-G/D——-F
Though He abides
C——————F/C——C
By our free will
G/D——F/C——C—
No one need be lost
G/D————-F/C——C—
For Our Lord on that Cross
Dm——————-C——-G
Paid the debt for all our sins
Dm————–C———-G
Dying that we might live
C—————G/D——-F
Jesus Christ
C———————-G/D——-F
Both God and man
C————G/D——-F
Following
C———————F/C——C
Their Sacred Plan
C—————G/D——-F
Through one,
C———————G/D——-F
Death came to all
C———————G/D——-F
And so in justice,
C—————F/C——C
one freed all

👏👏👏👏👏 I love it, Paul, as I do all your songs! I love the ukuleles! And of course, your voice and the song. God bless you. Sandra.
