Shouldn't I Love You More?

i wrote this thinking about the Passion of Jesus and glimpsing the Truth of my own part inflicting His suffering through my sins.

Shouldn’t I Love You More?

You prayed for me in the garden
You saw my soul and you prayed
You sweat blood for me in the garden
Shouldn’t I love you more?
Shouldn’t I love you more?

You were scourged by me in the courtyard
I didn’t know it was me
And you looked at me with love as I hurt you
Shouldn’t I love you more?
Shouldn’t I love you more?

You were crowned with thorns by me in the courtyard
I should have known it was me
Pride told me I wouldn’t be the one to hurt you
But I was wrong my Lord

You carried my cross for me my Jesus
All the way to Calvary
You were crucified instead of me my Jesus
Shouldn’t I love you more?
Shouldn’t I love you more?

Deep in my heart I really want to love you
But I get in the way
I’m a little child, I can do nothing without you
But I won’t give up my Lord

I rose from the dead for you my brethren
Overcoming darkness with light
For in my wounds you were healed my children

So you may choose eternal life.
So you may choose eternal life
So you may choose eternal life.
So you may choose eternal life
