Lift Up Your Head
Paul Lisney
This song came from prayer and is to give hope and encouragement to all who are having trouble moving forward due to their past.
Lift Up Your Head
Young lamb torn and bleeding
Caught in barbed wire, scared and alone
While the Good Shepherd watched from a distance
‘Till He called me by name and sent me to you
You saw a white fence surrounding the pasture
And you thought to go through, without any harm
But your vision was skewed, you saw what you wanted to
And you put your leg through and were tangled in wire
Lift up your head and start anew
Don’t let the past overshadow you
Lift up your heart and be renewed
Don’t let the darkness swallow you
I looked to Our Lord, concerned I might harm you
You were hurt and afraid, I didn’t know what to do
And the Good Shepherd said “call out for my helpers”
And our angels appeared to help me free you
In the presence of angels, you calmed completely
We reached for the wire and pulled your leg through
We bandaged your wounds and you limped to our Jesus
Who lovingly healed you, wounded by your own sin
Lift up your head and start anew
Don’t let the past grab ahold of you
Lift up your heart and be renewed
Don’t let the darkness swallow you
Sing Alleluia
‘Tis Christ who heals the wounded heart
Sing Alleluia
In the wake of sin a new life starts
