I’m not really sure how this came about, I borrowed some lyrics from Angie Fights Crime and added a reggae sound and a remix to “The Surreal Age of the Naked Lemon” which I’m doing for the Rmp challenge and this sort of popped out …

The Naked Lemon Dub

lyrics by Angie Fights Crime and the Old Grey Wolf Ltd Co

She’s a rainbow, she’s a rainbow

I found this book in an old book shop it was dirty and untidy just rubbish and stuff
In a cardboard box just gathering dust, it’s a magic book with the secrets of life
and the title was intriguing a mysterious delight

There was a great big spider web laid across the book, and the book just sat there, cool as cool could be, and it think it just whispered “Read me”

So I pulled it free, carefully, and blew away some dust, there was a picture on the front and it’s title was embossed in gold, The Naked Lemon, Book of Truth, fables from the by gone ages so I turned some pages, what would I find. In the beginning the Earth was without form and void and then the book took me some place far away, or was it a dream, I just don’t know and I can’t explain but I lived through a thousand years and I saw a million lives in the magical book and I thought I understood and it seems so strange and yet so real and it all made sense.

And it makes you laugh and it makes you cry and it even makes you angry but you don’t know why

Well there’s a grey old man in the dirty junk shop and he asks me how I am and would I like what I have got, he tells me it’s a fiver and in very good nick oh yes he’s read it all and it’s a wonderful book, and he says he’d like to close up and get himself home and your the last customer, so you feel obliged to go, I can’t afford to buy the book but reading it was good, a magic book I do agree maybe another day. He smiles at me this grey old man and says it is just fine, please take the book and keep the price, you can pay me when you like … some other time.

So I went back the very next day with a crisp clean £5 note but I couldn’t find the shop again, it just like disappeared and no-one even saw, no one can remember the Naked Lemon Second Hand new and used bookstore

She hides her heart under her pillow
Waiting (and waiting) for the fairytales to come true, to replace this broken man-machine
With a heart so I can feel again
She’s never sure which night will be her lucky one
(But she waits) and it’s late, it could be any day now

She wraps it up (and it looks so nice) with a pretty bow and she tries to hide
she says it’s ugly and she bears the scars (she’s wire frame) She’s made of paper mache
And she paints it bright (and it catch the light) Like a rainbow She’s a rainbow

If you ever come across a creepy junk shop and need to find what ever it is your looking for, you can’t judge a book by it’s cover and the magic is the story and the wisdom you find, you can’t judge a book by it’s cover but by the stories that touch your mind, The Naked Lemon Second Hand New and used Bookstore, satisfaction guaranteed, it’s a damn good read … Jah rastafarai, Jah love
