Connecting Points
Raymond Little
This piece, like most of my music, is fairly quiet and pensive. It uses a lot of ostinatos (repeating patterns) as a way to unify the piece and create almost a mantra type of effect.
I experimented a little with how I built the chords in the electric keyboard part. Instead of using traditional triads and extended triads, a vertical type of structure, I built the chords horizontally, emphasizing line. I also avoided thirds, trying to build a more open sound using seconds, fourths, fifths, and sevenths.
The title of the piece evolved from just the idea of thinking and reflecting…the meaning can be as narrow or as wide as makes sense to you (I usually think in very broad terms).
Soothing & relaxing. Love the song. Anna Larson Collins
