Hurricane Time Again
Robert James
FAWM’s 50/90 starts on July 4th, Independence Day in the USA, and wouldn’t you know it New England got hit by the remnants of a hurricane that night. Hurricane Arthur was pretty much just a rain storm by the time it hit us, but it was still song worthy.
I’ve signed up for 50/90 a couple of times in the past, but this year is the first time I am actually taking it seriously. This isn’t the first song written, but it’s the first one finished.
I am planning on keeping track of which guitar is used for which part on each song. For this one, the rhythm guitar is my Strat, the leads are my Les Paul.
It’s raining again
Storm coming through
Batten down
What else can you do
Arthur arrives
The waves are high
Fourth of July
Try to stay dry
Hurricane time
You can’t run away
Try to hide
Stay inside
Wind and rain given a name
Sea and sky prepare to fly
Killer waves get carried away
Peaceful eye hole in the sky
Brilliant!
