It's My Call
Robert James
Song #1 for the 2014 National Solo Album Month.
It’s November again, so it’s time for another NaSoAlMo. This year I am thinking of trying to write longish songs, and I would like to find a way to get my 12-string into every song somehow. This one meets both goals.
The lyrics are sort of inspired by the Brittany Maynard, death with dignity story. I’m not really sure how I feel about it, but if anything I think it should be up to the patient.
The rhythm guitars are Stratocaster and Takamine, and the lead is ES-335.
Who’s to say that it’s not my call
Who’s to blame if not me
Who can know that I’ve hit the wall
Who can tell who else can see
Write down the date
mark the time
That’s when I reach
the end of my line
I’ve thought it through
Can’t you agree
Can’t take any more
Won’t you please see
Sing me to sleep
Hold my hand
We’ll meet again
In the next land
I’ve been thinking about this for quite a while
I can’t take anymore The pain is too much
I am feeling like this is the end of the line
keep my dignity and let me move on
this is up to me, this will be my call
