Stupid Couplets
Robert James
The rhythm guitar part for this was originally written on an electric piano, but given that I can barely play piano I think it turned out better this way. The title describes the lyrics. I was trying to write something coherent but I gave up and just started rhyming things. It’s just a bunch of stupid couplets, get it?
The rhythm guitars are a Gibson SG through a Keeley D&M Drive (boost side only) into a Fender Bassbreaker 15. The lead is a Gibson Les Paul into the drive side of the D&M into the the same amp.
This is the first song finished for the first ever April RPM Challenge. I’m guessing everyone is going to write a bunch of songs about being quarantined. Screw you, COVID-19.
Verse 1:
give it a chance
chance for success
old song and dance
one final mess
Verse 2 & 3:
look down on me
what do you see
home all alone
cover is blown
Chorus:
say it again
it never ends
you always know
which way to go
its up to you
what do you do
put down the phone
and stay at home
middle eight:
so close the door
turn out the light
its what you do
you feel the need
to do what’s right
its up to you
