For Salty Eyes
Rob Kent
Written and performed by Rob Kent

Here we all are on the same boat
All heading the same direction
All intending to get far
Always further than we are
Each voyage is plentiful
If not for your pockets your head
And the longest trip
Sometimes can yield the least
Render your spirit dead
At each next offshore leave
Satisfaction grows old
Some resign to stay behind
We set out for more gold
Our favourite shanty sings
How we may strive all our lives
Never seeing under our noses
For the salt in our eyes
We are proud to say we set sail
And will be proud to set sail again
Though we may row of lives away
If we can’t start living for the day
Here we all are on the same boat
Working side by side
Determined to happen upon our paradise
Holding out for our piece of the prize
Gazing upon each new horizon
We know this venture could be our last
The temptation to jump ship is growing strong
But we would hate to be going nowhere fast
Here we all are on the same boat
All heading the same direction
All intending to get far
Always further than we are
Our favourite shanty sings
How we may strive all our lives
Never seeing under our noses
For the salt in our eyes
We are proud to say we set sail
And will be proud to set sail again
Though we may row of lives away
If we can’t start living for the day
