Ouorri - "NERVE IS LAW"
So?ing Machine
[Ouorri is a new primary identity for myself, but I don’t think it will outright replace “So?ing Machine” for all musical projects… just ones of certain natures. owu]

script and commentary:
(foray into a metaphor -ay into a meta- foray…)
who determines where you go?
(foray into a metaphor -ay into a meta- foray…)
we control the stars by which we navigate our shared dreams
we can avoid any unwanted slant with a backslash
NERVE IS LAW
(foray into a metaphor -ay into a meta- foray…)
no fabric is a match for my hallux… with its mighty claw!
not even… the fabric of spaAACE?!
(foray into a metaphor -ay into a meta- foray…)
hmm… let me ask my nerves what they think of what lies beyond!
[pain noises]
they say I’ve created a gateway to pain.
I’ll just tear up the rift with my claw!
NERVE IS LAW
we! love! having! … NERVES!
NERVE
IS
LAW
(NERVES!)
NERVE IS LAW
NERVE IS LAW

this came together… entirely last minute, started before sleeping and finished over the course of the following day. ·w. it was Fun.
it, too, is of course small enough zipped that it is eligible for inclusion in future versions.
…
do I want to Explain this, thematically??? .w . it feels like that maybe just makes things less Fun.
as the deadline loomed, several people said there wasn’t time to make an entry… which is something I’m one to be annoying about the technical inaccuracy of! ·ẇ rather than determining yourself to be unable to do a thing, take stock of what can be pulled off in whatever time remains.
if you can plop down a simple beat with some included perc and clone the pattern out to a minute and thirty seconds, you more-or-less have the foundation of some of my favorite music ever made to build on! … and that much probably doesn’t even take five minutes! make it juuust a little spicier, with, say, off-kilter syncopation and your second- or third-favorite time signature to use, and it’s automatically Very Interesting, and something to Have Fun and Let Loose with.
if you don’t know what to do with yourself after those initial minutes to get into the swing of it… the rules prohibit covers, BUT they don’t say you can’t take a lot of inspiration from something to start with and then naturally veer off into your own thing! and if you catch yourself slowing down on performing one task, try to productively fidget with another one.
I understood I couldn’t make something equally as dense/intricate/thoughtful as the entry I had just been coming back to for a couple weeks… but that doesn’t necessarily translate to not making similarly-valuable music, and this isn’t directly an Effort Expenditure Competition. I’m also kind of a slow worker by some standards, but I figured I wouldn’t have to do much of anything else during the day, and I have 12+ years of SunVox experience to lean on. I picked out pitchbending a bass for kicks + the recently-added semitone controller on the LFO as things to play with, and just kept pulling that stitch in the gumiholen until this happened. ˙w· it’s Fun and Different and song-sized and Exists Here for you to listen to! and a li’l other experimental sound design occurred, as occurs! yay!
I wasn’t thinking about more than “heehee I like these sounds this way” while working, but I can draw comparisons to similar wads of sounds I’ve liked in ways, like Modeselektor’s “Ziq Zaq”, and Zovi’s “ROBOTS vs. SPACE DRAGONS (feat. ROB CULEN)”
