I'm Lost
Another Monroe-Robinson collaboration. So glad Kenny brought those two together a few years ago!
As with a few other tracks this time around, Robbie recorded his parts on his own, then we replaced the canned GarageBand drum loops with actual acoustic drum parts in the final mix. Speaking of the drum part, it was John’s idea to use a half-time feel in the verses and outro, and Robbie’s to keep the regular time feel for contrast in the choruses. I think it works!

I’m Lost
by Leum Monroe and Robbie Robinson
I’ve got a woman, she treats me so bad,
But she’s the best lover that I ever had.
She makes me feel good, she makes me feel rich.
She’s got the kinda loving you just can’t ditch.
So I’m lost, oh baby, I’m lost.
I’m lost ‘cause I can’t call my baby my own.
I’m lost, oh man, I’m lost.
I’m lost ‘cause I can’t call my baby my own.
It would be different if she’d take my hand.
I’d be the best fellow that she ever had.
I’d take her to town and buy her some things.
Take her to church and offer my ring.
But I’m lost, oh man, I’m lost.
I’m lost ‘cause I can’t call my baby my own.
I’m lost, oh baby, I’m lost.
I’m lost ‘cause I can’t call my baby my own.
It’d be amazing if she’d make me her own,
If she’d take to this from dusk through dawn,
But she don’t want to settle down.
She’s got me worried, and now I’ve found…
That I’m lost, oh baby, I’m lost.
I’m lost ‘cause I can’t call my baby my own.
She won’t, and so I’m blue somewhere,
Somewhere on the avenue, I’m lost.
I’m lost. I’m lost. So lost. I’m lost. So lost.
