Won't Go There Alone
Spice Rack Collective
A lovely, sweet sentiment that, to my ear, could be a love note from one hopeful individual to another, or could read as a celebration of this everchanging group that assembles to entertain and support one other each February.
Like I told Leum, through my years of putting these Spice Rack Collective group albums together for RPM Challenge (so far, 2010, 2012, and 2015 through 2023), I’ve gained an appreciation for, and even a cheerful reliance on, serendipity. When Leum sent me the lyrics for this song, I thanked him for coming up with this year’s album title!

Won’t Go There Alone
If I write a song for you, and if I get it right,
I’d say all the things that I’ve kept deep inside.
And if you were to tell me what I long to hear,
I’d sing it to you slowly, repeating through the years.
We won’t go there alone; we won’t go there alone.
We’ll celebrate our love and make it on our own.
And then we’d settle into the finer life we’d earned.
We’d never need to question where we were concerned.
The years would flow in concert with music for our bind,
To satisfy our longing for being in our time.
And we won’t go there alone; we won’t go there alone,
We’ll celebrate our love and make it on our own.
And we won’t go there alone; we won’t go there alone.
We’ll celebrate our love and make it on our own.
