The preacher spent his life building churches out of stone
Making money to help and feed the poor
Believing what he did in this life really did count
Working his ticket to his promised land
He’d made his mark out there in the sand

Leaving the sand clean like nothing was ever there

A professor reads all the books had the knowledge no other man had
Gets old get senile and forgets it all
The actress lives her life making us beleave she is someone else
Hoping she’d be remembered for who she was
They thought they’d made their mark out there in the sand
