This Wretched Vessel

Broken things on my window sill
Remind me every day
Of my constant lean towards failure
Always getting in my way
Perpetual disappointment
I never follow through
Can’t count on me for nothing
I’ll only disappoint you

There’s a war in my soul and I’m losing control
It’s ok, sometimes I feel better
In the blink of and eye I can switch live or die
And so surrender to pain

I’ve got pages full of promises
That’ll never see the light of day
A well-spring of negativity
At least it looks like I’m doing OK
Another broken promise
Nightmare come true
No wonder why you’ll find me
Alone when this is through
