In the Swamps of Venus

Taken from an old archival tape reel - probably mid-’90s - it took me a while to figure out what I had done here. Written on the tape box was the word “Slowbird”, and it eventually dawned on me that the obvious theremin part was dubbed onto a slowed-down recording made several years prior, of some birds singing. In some ways it could, I suppose, be considered a kind of prelude and fugue, with the prelude being the first 6:15 approx. and the rest the fugue. The title comes from its rather other-worldly sonic landscape. Submitted to Sound-In “Swamped” for 25/8-1/9/2022.
