Dear Electricity

Dear Electricity,

Be my metropolis.

My hometown is no more–
crumbled like a cookie
through a fault line in my brain.

It’s ancient cityscape adorned
my mental pathways

I’m a refugee
residing in a house of cards of sympathy
sent to me
by the citizens
of my heart.

Like the blood that flows inside my head
my ear detects your pulse, your hum
within
these paper thin
walls.

Instinctively
I match the surges
of your energy
But we’re not equal
physically

I don’t ask for exclusivity
I could never be
oh
so
audacious

I ask only for what I have already:
total liberation

Perhaps, I thought
at least you would understand.

Saved!
