Just when I swear
that I’ve had enough
from inside my glass
salutes my bluff

Slaves to a mutually
assured reduction
slaves to each other,
to our blood – we are lovers

Whether or not
Rome fell in a day
at some point
this will all go away

Mixing metaphors
is my forte
our lives may be epic
but no Shakespearean play

Like Pavlov’s dogs
we just want to be fed
so why do these games
mess with my head

If we have any hope
to feel how we felt
then we’re destined to play
the hand we’ve been dealt

I guess my life’s become
a single issue campaign
to get through this round
without going insane.
