Passed Out on a Stretcher in Some Kind of Eternal Emergency Room
Dear particles of cosmic dust,
Dear undiscovered elements,
Dear Jane / the dame / with no last name,
My heart is in pieces
but it was never broken
I disassembled it;
an experiment in neuroplasticity and biodegradability
in the name of science
perhaps taken too far.
Meanwhile the universe expands like a loaf of bread.
My need to extract the meaning of life
could be the thing that leaves me dead.
I am an impulsive man
but I’m taking a moment to reflect
for an eternal microsecond
before I take this next step ahead.
One small step for a man
A giant leap for all kinds
in the name of madness
I will find
new heights and new depths
new lengths and new breadths
I will sprawl
I will spread
I’ll fly Union Jacks
If I can only break
the confines
of my
own
head.
