Curtain Call
Will Stelter
The curtain call,
Yeah it falls and drifts away.
And I know, it’s not what you want,
Yeah I’m not even close.
I’m a dead dog,
Licking your mouth, stuck on the outside of town
Lost in the fog, naked and flogged
Not in the blush on your cheeks.
I’ve been so lonely,
I know, that you’re not.
True love doesn’t come and go,
So you know, that I’m not.
Cut it down to a fox-tailed crawl,
Yeah it draws, backed into a nose-dived sustain.
And I know, its callous to call,
Atleast when you’re speaking to me.
So black out the sounds,
Black out the thoughts, better to black out the dreams, all in all.
Call it waste, call it what you will,
Notice how you felt, when you feel, cause,
I’ve been so lonely,
I know, that you’re not.
True love doesn’t come and go,
So you know, that I’m not.
God, I’ve been so lonesome,
But I know, curb appeal’s the steal,
Soul mate’s just a word that describes how we die,
Rot next to each other, by and by.
I’m a dead dog,
No longer biting your couch, since you had me put down.
A friend, that you wanted to hate,
Altogether can’t escape, cause you feel, how you felt.
