"Farmer's Blow" is redneck rap. Oh yeah, I went there.

If you're on the run
And your nose has gotta go
Don't grab a tissue
Do the farmer's blow
Just tilt your head
To the side
Then block one nostril
And let it ride
You may think

Well I *had* intended to try doing something different this week.
So technically I succeeded.
It's solo piano again, but I had to teach my left hand how to play this somewhat syncopated bass line, before I could actually compose against it…
Did I mention I'm taping my songwriting sessions?
So I now have about 30 minutes of footage of me totally screwing around at the beginning of this session. Listening to Spotify. Playing melodies by ear and such.
And then I finally decided…

Song #4 for FAWM. More solo piano.
One of the things I struggle with, with all of these pure piano pieces is how much to edit/fix them.
Way way back in the day, I quantized everything precisely and made all of the velocities the same. To…
Another beautiful piece. I think a drummer said it, something like, "I spent 30 years trying to be perfect, and now I'm trying to unlearn it." Or something like that...being human is always better than being "perfect."
Let us celebrate our failures and our successes!
I submit my failure here for consideration.
I actually want to do something more with this just because it's a lot darker than I usually write. Unfortunately, it never turned into something musical…

Um. If you enjoyed "solo piano 20100201", you'll probably enjoy this similarly titled piece.
Hugs to all my fellow alonetoners who listened/commented on yesterday's track.
I'm looking forward to catching up on all of the great music you…
I might as well officially say that I’m attempting to go 28 for 28.
Maybe nuts, but I seem to feel the need to prove to myself that I’m the same person who could write a song a day (24 in 24) back in August.

28 tunes would make a great CD...I hope you can do it. Yeah, I remember the days I wrote so much music I had to use dates and letters for titles...but most of that got recorded, glad you're getting yours down.
I excel at disappearing for long stretches, eh?
I think with this I'm officially committing to doing FAWM.
And R.I.P. my songwriting drought. August 27th, 2009 - February 1st, 2010.

I think I dislike this song, but it's been sitting in my bounce folder far too long and something about it still makes me play it from time to time. Maybe you will like it more than I do. the simple lyric is not meant to be interpreted literally…
A moody solo acoustic thing that I came up with playing in a long forgotten tuning. Just got a new Zoom H4N, so this was recorded in my shop sitting at my reedmaking bench may 12 2009
This is from our album, "When I Was Your Age," recorded entirely in the month of February for our third year participating in the RPM Challenge. "When I Was Your Age" is a collection of 13 songs looking back at when we were kids.
What happened after too much time on youtube watching live vids of "voodoo chile" Noisy obnoxious and very cathartic for me! Live to 2tracks with the Jamman
After yesterdays experiment with noise gates and vocal transformers I thought I'd have another go using Rytme as the source material.
A single Rytme track with multiple playheads is playing into a Logic channel containing Kore playing the Absynth…
Rough sketch of a proposed dreamy 12 string piece that I couldn't pull off on the 12 string so did this quick electric version with vocal pads. Not sure of the recording quality- sounds OK in my cans and kinda crappy on my monitors. Recorded march…
Really liked the mood of this piece!
Recording quality sounded fine to me on my consumer-level speakers. If you do another version, I'd like to hear it.
the first multi track piece that I actually finished "in the box" in Cubase. An ambient kinda thing that grew out of playing around with the Line 6 DL4. Not sure I like the bow parts, but I may re do it later
Comments on yelyah's stuff
LMAO!!!!
Hahahaha! "Seriously, do NOT snot on a bear!"
Another nice piano tune. I'm really enjoying your "album."
Really enjoying your beautiful melodies.
Very autumnal. :-)
Aw, bittersweet this one, Yelyah. Delicately played - I can hear a whole orchestra slowly joining in from about 1.09! Inspiring!
Lovely meditative quality about it!
I like this.
Ther are tons of resources on youtube.com This is really beautiful by the way.

Brilliant!!!
Sounds great!
My fave so far. This is twinkly and dare I say, a little folky? I can hear a fiddle line! That was me.
28!? Well played! (Your melody sounds like a vocal line - when are you going to bless these tracks with your lovely voice?)
Sounds pretty tight to me! Nice!!

I think it's dreadful that you stay away for such long stretches. :-) This is lovely. More please.
More, more, please, more!!!
Another nice one!
moving composition. Thanks for sharing :)

such a lovely vibe on this one. And thanks for all of the feedback, I really appreciate it!
love the sounds on this one
So much good stuff to choose from here. I think this one is my favorite.
Really love the ethereal mood you set with the background effects/vocals. Haunting.
love the crunchy guitar and the funky beat
Laid back feel and interesting sound design elements.

I really dig the vibe on this one and like the effects you chose for the guitars.
