Here’s a traditional American tune I first heard down in the Ozarks when I was maybe 5 years old. Just clawhammer banjo and vocals. The first verse is one I remember. I made up the rest. I was gonna go from coast to coast but I ran out of time and got stuck in Omaha - LOL!

The banjo is a 1924 Vega style F tenor pot (made in the same year my Dad was born) with a 5-string neck made by French luthier Eric Stefanelli. First recording with a new modern head. It was just impromptu with a Sure SM-58 mic in the living room… not even my studio. But I kind of like the result, even with the obvious imperfections.

Here’s an echo of what entertainment was back in what my Ozark grandpap used to refer to as the “horsefly days”. Hope it will brighten your day just a little.
