Sharp Bright Flint

This is one I wrote a few years back but didn’t really get anywhere with. Its quite jolly. The starting point was the idea of rolling down a hill and hitting a flint, picking it up and keeping it.

Lyrics

Headlong down the hill, I hit a stone with my right hand
I grabbed it fast as I flew past
I want it for my own
Sharp bright flint
It hurts, but it is my own

Among the grass and chalk a little stone for my right hand
I hold it fast that bitter shard
I hold it to my own
Sharp bright flint
It hurts, but it is my own

Here is what I have, a little stone for my right hand
Hard and fast is what I am
I hold my captive stone
Sharp bright flint
It hurts but it is my stone

Have a little look, what I hold in my right hand
Not for you nor anyone
Would I lose my little stone
Sharp bright flint
It hurts but it is my own

Headlong through the grass, I hit a stone with my right hand
I grabbed it fast as I flew past
I want it for my own
Sharp bright flint
It hurts, but it is my own
