Minnie Whiteout Conditions

I’m a boy from down the Valley
I’m Codroy to the bone
I makes a livin’ drivin’ rigs and now I got me own
I calls her “The First Lady”, a beauty to behold
We’ll load her up and haul her out from every stage and store

The Starlite in me rearview mirror when I am leaving home
I fears no moose or Mountie when I am on the road
Day and night or dark and light
No I will not be slowed
They’re out there waiting for me in city, bay and cove

Well coming up from Port aux Basques
Burdened with a load
Minnie was on the radio and whiteouts on the road
And somewhere round the Wreckhouse I met a heavy blow
And me truck was flipped into the ditch and buried in the snow

Why didn’t I stay at the Starlite until the weather cleared
For this January storm, no I was not prepared
It was dollars over hours, for me life I didn’t care
Now 18 wheels of commerce are spinning in the air

Now there’s no wool for Granny’s knitting
No milk for kitty’s bowl
No tack for Mudder’s fish n’brewis
No oil for the stove
The Island is gut-foundered and shivering in the cold
While I am down here in the ditch and waiting for a tow

Now there’s line-ups in North Sydney
To pay the ferry toll
They’re up there at the weigh station
Inspectors on the load
They’re dancing at the Chignic Lounge until the weathers holds
With Minnie on the bandstand and whiteouts on the road

The Starlite in me headlights
And I am coming home
I fears no moose or Mountie when I am on the road
Day and night or dark and light
No I will not be slowed
Me 18 wheels of commerce is back up on the go
I’m up out of the ditch and finally got me tow
With Minnie on the radio and whiteouts on the road
