cause i’m not gonna go

it’s an 80’s theme
i saw it in my stream
but i didn’t accept or decline
i just said maybe
and maybe means no
maybe always means no

don’t ask me to go to your wedding
my gift is in the mail
no i never was much of a dancer
i kinda just twitch and flail
it’s a sight to see
i’ll admit it’s not pretty
so i’ll save the embarrassment and i’ll R.S.V.P, “maybe”
but you know what maybe means

please don’t it personal it’s me
the problem is not you
i know it’s cliché and you’ve heard it before
but this time it’s the truth
i’m tired of making excuses so i can stay at home
you know i think you’re wonderful
i’d just rather be, well you know
i think you already know

i’d rather stay in bed with the voice in my head
in a rubber room or an Egyptian tomb
in a cave underground where i can never be found
or in a submarine under the deep blue sea
in a hot air balloon
a rocket ship to the moon
in a forest green or washed up on the beach
take a walk in the park
museum after dark
in an empty bar
locked in the trunk of a car
on the dock of the bay
maybe a castaway
on a deserted island’s where i’d like to stay
an igloo in the north pole
catching fish from a hole that i cut through the ice
wouldn’t that be nice
playing solitaire
learning to cut my own hair
pretty sure there’s a tutorial for that out there
so before you invite me out this Saturday night
please remember that maybe always means no
