Dandelion Boy
Andrew Russe
This is an oldie. Recorded in 2005. It was the first recording I finished on a DAW, but I’d played it a lot in the last band I was in (around the turn of the century). I think it was written in the mid 90s. It’s about one of the casualties of my first marriage. He’d be 18 now, but I haven’t seen him since he was 4 or 5.
I got a bit “nutty-professor” while recording this. The version I used to do live was a lot simpler, harder, and possibly better!
Dandelion Boy - A A J Russe
Doesn’t matter a bit what people say
The yellow daggers
Tightly packed
Made you scared
The floating seeds of time
Got tangled in your hair
I’ve got a picture of you
Holding such a clock
Dandelion Boy
Doesn’t matter a bit what people say
It isn’t guaranteed they know the way
Don’t try to please them in all you do
That was my mistake
If you could see just a little way down the line
Then your vision would be so much better than mine
I’ve got a feeling the things that scare you today
Did the same to me
Little Dandelion Boy
Not every tree bears fruit to eat
There’s not a single pleasure can make you complete
But don’t think there’s one that I haven’t tried
I’ve tried them all
I’ve tried them all little Dandelion Boy
Daddy’s Dandelion Boy
Such a pity
What we want
We can’t get
But I’ve a feeling
What we’ve got is better yet
It won’t be easy
Won’t be simple growing up
No
Dandelion Boy
It hurts to see the sadness in your eyes
You’re getting too good at saying goodbye
Try not to learn all Daddy’s mistakes
‘Cos that’s what I did
That’s what I did little Dandelion Boy
Daddy’s Dandelion Boy
Daddy’s little boy
Dandelion Boy
Doesn’t matter a bit what people say
