The song came about when Jason was asked to notarize a few immigration documents for two recently married friends of his - one of whom was applying for U.S. citizenship. When they asked Jason whether he could notarize their signatures “to prove it wasn’t a sham marriage,” he informed them they were in luck - he wasn’t only a Notary, he was the “Love Notary.” They laughed a bit at his comment until they realized Jason was serious about the concept making “a great song for TheSongOfTheDay” and found themselves alone, stranded in his office with unnotarized papers in hand, as he ran to the studio to write this song.
