Two Beers Away From Calling You
Another ten o'clock, same beer, same bar.
Same old thoughts of calling you.
We burned that bridge so many times,
crossing it's the last thing I should do.
Your number's still here in my phone,
But I know theres…

I was listening to Billie Holiday and this idea popped into my head. I think this is more suited for a woman's voice, so I'll re-post when that's recorded.

Like it might scare the blues away

Hello all, I've been doing FAWM, February Album Writing Month, so I haven't been getting back to you with listens and comments, my apologies. Writing 14 songs in a month tends to limit you doing much else. I highly recommend it though…

I'm a madman roaring down this rain-slicked road
Top down, laughing, rain slaps like the hand of God
Left you barefoot, summer-haired, watching me go
Like a beautiful flower I should've picked
a long, long time ago
Pre-Chorus:
You were…

Ok. More covers. This song has always meant something to me. Probably the same thing it meant to David.
Vocal was recorded while playing the piano so it's a bit iffy.
Here's my "super professional studio" for interest and posterity…

Another great tune from good ol' Brian.
Original guitarist Keith is back to sprinkle a little magic on this song, upping the quality to levels that go beyond great...well past my own usual half-assed efforts. It won't be long before they kick…

Boom Boom Girl (c) Nick Torres 9/25/25

(Song 3 this year)
When you're younger,
you're everything or so it seems
Then you start becoming a ghost in the years between
People say things about you like
"He was always so nice"
"Such a good guy" , "Such a shame"
or " he always…

Only In My Dreams (DRAFT) - (C) Nick Torres 9-15-25
Only in my dreams
You’re calling out my name
Running in the moonlight
Hear your laughter in the rain
Only in my dreams
I hold you in my arms
Our hearts beat like lover’s drums…

Sometimes to clear my head I'll listen to Bob Marley's Legend album. Then I noticed that these lyrics fit with a nice reggae beat.

I wrote this when the cliche's were still new and dirt was rocks. Keith Richards was still pretty old though.

used to know your breathing
in the dark beside me
now the nights repeating
all my faults and broken dreams
Chorus
oh-oh-oh-oh
I’m not sure how to begin
oh-oh-oh-oh
when I can’t take and I can’t give
oh-oh-oh-oh

You say "We look happy here"
Pointing at a picture frame
My arm around your shoulder
all this happiness, never any pain
Your mom pinned it on the fridge
Called it "perfect finally"
But no one saw you later
yelling "This is killing me…

I walked in and you were wearing that red dress
Said you bought it from a second-hand store
someone said it didn’t fit, it wasn’t right
someone didn’t want it anymore
I said: "Baby That's like me and you

Beautiful song. I'm curious what a smoke-aged female (thinking 1930's lounge singer here, complete with cigarette holder and slouch hat) would sound like, but you sound great on this especially on the chorus. The melody is haunting and addicting. Keep your vocal on it IMO.

I agree with the Proods. Really lovely. Your voice is so full of emotion and is so perfect for these lyrics. Really pulls you in. Thanks
