@slkrell, @greg, and @theproods: Thank you so much! I thought of a special someone when I was singing it which maybe explains why it resonates. Since you like it, you might check out Brandi Carlile's version too.
I got a message from *SLKrell* to stop and take a listen to this.
Well Done!
This is one of those old familiar songs that I have never heard before. It just feels like an old friend, even though it's the first time I've heard it.
@kavin -- thanks for the feedback! I improvised this with my brother several years ago so I wish I could still remember how I played it. But I'm glad that you and others are enjoying it!
Something about it, maybe the chord changes. Whatever it is, it got my juices flowing.
I can hear (in my mind) a Stratocaster echoing the lyric *"Nothing Else Matters"*
@GeneEricMann Thanks for your kind words, in particular with regards to my vocals. I know I'm not a gifted singer, but what I lack in skill, I try to make up for in sincerity.
Took me a "long long time" to discover this song, but I'm so glad I was finally able to thanks to the amazing third episode of "The Last of Us." Thank you for the kind words, Colleen!
I'm so happy to learn that you plan to take a look at the originals, c}{imps! I'm just here trying to honor my favorite songs and it's a true compliment if I can do well enough to make someone want to hear the "real" version. (-:
I had a lot of fun listening to this one. The subtle use of sitar and the chugging rhythm guitar are two cool things (of many) that jump out at me. Nice work, Steve! :)
10 years ago (April 3rd, 2008) I joined alonetone. Here is a rerecorded version of the first song I ever posted to alonetone. The song is "Girl is On My Mind" by The Black Keys
My aunt gifted me a 12 string guitar for Christmas and so I had fun trying it out for this song; I'm glad it turned out okay. As always, thanks for listening and for the encouraging words, Steve!
Comments on Tom's stuff
Wow! I'm a fan, bro.

Good stuff...If I had the pipes I would have given this tune a shot...real heart, man.

Hey Tom , This is so good. Instantly faved.
@tdg7 -- thank you for the kind words! I recommend, if you have the desire, to go check out J. Tillman's version; it is far superior to mine.

Youre really on to something here.

I enjoyed your guitar and voice. A nice, sweet performance. You did a great job keeping it even, volume-wise, and steady, tempo-wise.
Nice track.
Dude this is beautiful. I could see thing on my phone! :D

I particularly appreciate the vocals in this one -- strong and well-delivered.
Great lyrics, nice progression of chords, cool electric guitar -- subtle but effective.
I really liked this song! Thanks for sharing. Great lyrics!

I like all four of your songs! The layered vocals on this one are particularly cool. :)
A nice "pick me up" in these uncertain times! The bongos and other percussive sounds are nicely juxtaposed with the simulated jet sounds. Cool stuff!
Thanks for the encouraging words, Tess! Authenticity is definitely what I'm going for with these songs.
@SisterSavage: As always, thank you for listening and thank you for your kind words, Tess!
Inspiring!

Thanks, Steve! It was fun trying to make the two guitars work and I'm glad the enjoyment extended beyond just me.
@theproods I'm very glad to hear that you're out there supporting some of the artists who inspired me so much!
Love this one; it’s great seeing you back on alonetone! :)
Glad you enjoyed it, Steve! I had some fun with this one. ;)
...you pretty much just described my life @fudetusk
Thanks @fudgetusk! By the way, that gum you like is going to come back in style.
@fudgetusk: Thanks for the kind words!
@fudgetusk Thanks for the kind feedback; I've really enjoyed my ten years here and I'm hoping for at least ten more!
Thanks, Steve! Atmosphere and emotion are definitely what I'm going for here!
I enjoyed what you did here, Steve! I can imagine this being the soundtrack to a remixed Road Runner cartoon.
