Poorly Blown Glass
Colleen Dillon
This is my submission for the “write something about glass” challenge…. It battled me a bit, and I ended up with a fairly spare arrangement, but it’s simple like GLASS!

Verse 1:
Your love was like poorly blown glass
Riddled with weakness that should’ve been class
I might’ve known when the shards pierced my heart
Your glass filled with love was broken to start
Verse 2:
The vessel that held that promise of love
Glittered with beauty, was sent from above
Delicious and charming were those first sips
Now I can’t bear that taste on my lips
Chorus:
When I needed sweet
You gave me bitter
When I needed a hero
You gave me a quitter
When I needed your shoulder
You were cold as winter
Wounded but stronger
Leave that glass in the cinders
Verse 3:
Sometimes true love comes in glass that is plain
Simple is good when it gives you no pain
Sturdy and strong, steady and sure
Glass blown like that will hold love that is pure
You always come up with the best melodies and lyrics. I love the simplicity of this. The doubling of voice (W/Reverb) is a nice touch.
Awesome. No one writes lyrics like you do Colleen! First class.
