All that's left are the stories
Greg Connor
I recently retired and for the past 4 months I’ve been telling people “All that’s left are the stories”. There will be no more of the glamor and prestige.
When I saw the May songwriting challenge offered by Minnesota Homebrew Radio Show, well, this song just sort of popped out over the weekend.
Here’s the challenge:
Bruce Caswell won the honor of choosing May’s SONGWRITING CHALLENGE theme. Here’s his reply:
“My recommendation for the May word prompt would be memory / memorial. Could be songs of love or remembrance (memory), or songs of tribute (memorial). Thought it might work with Memorial Day coming up.”
If you would like to participate, go to Facebook Minnesota Homebrew Radio Show and introduce yourself to my friend Carl Unbehaun.
You'll be so busy you'll never understand how you had time to go to work.....excellent song
Now that's how to write a tune. The second verse was perfect....... If we I get to sing this one together ,I got dibs on that second verse.
wonderful folk song, full of images that somehow take me off the range as well. Much enjoyed.
Congrats on being able to retire. I probably never will. You got much more than stories left, sir. You got songs!
Great lyrics....and of course outstanding singing & playing...reminds me a little of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band
Boy you sure can write a good one!!!! Another masterpiece! Thanks for sharing the song challenge too!!!
