Cricket Song (Feat. my son Keith)

Well, my son and I were sitting around the backyard last night. A nice fire going, I was playing my acoustic, and we heard this crazy cricket chirping away very close to us. My son asked if I could record him with my “machine”. Out came the microBR, recorded the cricket. Listening to it my son come up with a little verse about a cricket on his head, microBR was still warmed up so I recorded him singing, then I recorded some nice acoustic to accompany his singing, all done outside. You can hear the fire crackling from time to time in the background. I felt inspired by this casual random recording so I moved it inside later on in the night and fueled by some red ale I added some synth and a middle section (my son said make it like The Who, Flaming Lips and Rush, three of his favorite bands, that was his instructions for my middle section, I did what I could ). Tonight I did the bass and vocals and it is done. This was a lot of fun and it was great to get my son involved. He did real good on the singing I thought (he is 8 this summer).

Oh one day a cricket sat on my head,
It was so weird, but, I let him on instead.

Here we are around the fire,
its times like these that take me higher,
You are my one and only, you’re the one who makes it real.

Sitting out, warm summer night,
me and my boy we’re quite a sight.
We’re singing hard and were singing tight.
Its times like these that take me higher,
You give me warmth, you are my fire.

Oh one day a cricket sat on my head,
It was so weird, but, I let him on instead.

Firstly: This is SOOOO Excellent!!! In years gone by I also have been inspired by the cricket songs here in the deep south... Secondly: POST THE WORDS (please)! Us old folks' ears need the assistance... Thirdly: I truly hope I'm the first member of the Berry and Berry (B&B for short) fan club!!!
