Don't Hike Alone
DON’T HIKE ALONE (Bohnenberger)
Everybody’s laying in the sun
On the boat the fishermen
Are having lots of fun
I can’t find a partner
A single loyal friend
Adventure I simply will pretend
My equipment comes together well
A pair of hiking shoes
Of advanced materielle
A bottle of water
A cap upon my head
And a little map by which I’m led
Don’t hike alone
When you go
So very far from home
Don’t stray too far from the safety zone
The open path
is marked in clear
There is nothing to fear
You have no signal on your phone
The leaves reduce the light of day
The markings on the trees
Are showing me the way
The creek beside me
A peaceful sort of sound
But another pathway I have found
I take this branch so warily
The marking are not very
Obvious to me
Should I turn around now?
To find my way with ease?
It’s getting darker by degrees
Don’t hike…
The warnings told us of the bears
And the slinky reptiles
They told us to beware
Ravenous coyotes
Coursing through the glade
Incredible danger does pervade
Something is lying round the bend
Could it be my adventure
Is coming to an end?
I am heavily sweating and
My fists begin to clench
It’s an elderly couple on a bench
Don’t hike…
