Mountain Laundry
MOUNTAIN LAUNDRY (Bohnenberger)
Staying in the mountains a week and a day
running out of underwear is all I have to say
Find an alternative outside the cabin door
And old-fashioned laundromat with a wooden floor
A rusty tank of propane is hanging out the back
This is a common feature of a rustic laundromat
The cycle’s nearly finished, your clothes are nearly clean
Everybody’s washing at the mountain laundery.
kneel by the river and wash it in the stream
replacing the mud doesn’t make them very clean
On the honor system, the washer works for free
bring your own detergent to the Mountain laundery
A filthy pair of trousers, a dirt-encrusted hat
Grab it all and take it to the rustic laundromat
The cycle’s nearly finished, your clothes are nearly clean
Everybody’s washing at the mountain laundery.
Renting a cabin, keeping it clean
That huge pile of laundry’s the worst I’ve ever seen
Put it in a basket, take it out the back
A washer and dryer is in the wooden shack
The final load is spinning, the laundery is done
almost time to get back to the mountain kinda fun
Toss them in the dryer or hang them on the tree
Everybody’s washin’ at the mountain laundery.
Everybody’s rockin’ at the mountain laundery.
