For Better Or Worse
Endicott Road
This was written at a time when things weren’t going so well for me. This will be my last upload until after the RPM Challenge.
The jeans are worn but they’re clean.
The shirt is frayed at the elbows.
The shoes are dull, lost their sheen.
Down on my luck and it shows.
I know you married me for love, hon.
I can see it clearly in your eyes.
When will our lives get better, more fun.
Not get those calls we both despise.
I know you said you’d stand by me
For better or for worse.
I’ve been trying to make headway
But lady luck has been a curse.
I can’t say when things will improve,
Can’t give you chapter and verse.
All that I can prove
Is I will love you for better or worse.
The car is old, too many miles.
The home could use some improvement.
This face has seen not many smiles
And the career, no upward movement.
I know you say that you love me
And that the rest just doesn’t matter.
But I’m too old to be so scruffy
With a boss who will only flatter.
I know you said you’d stand by me . . .
Ha, that's what I did Terry. I was singing along to JM when I first heard his song.
Hellish funky backing here! Proper shoulder twitcher Terry.
Aw, am glad you wrote this in the past and things are happier now.
