Say Something
Gary Fox
This one was a hard one to nail. The Wurlitzer riff was something I accidentally played and fell in love with immediately, so I needed to write a song that enhanced the mood that the tone of the Wurly evoked. The sound is so empty and spacious, but lonely too. This song is about total catastrophic failure, and the after effects of that. It has that glimmer of hope in the mid section, which quickly gets ushered away by the intrusion of the original piece. I am still not sure I nailed this one, but in a way, that would be a perfect ending to a song about failure.
BIG Rhodes sound, interesting and tense start to the song. Develops nicely, although I'd have liked the Edge-guitar maybe to have debuted earlier. Very emotional.
Love howw the song develops. Must have been a challenge to have the Wurlitzer not ruin the stereo correlation of the mix :-)
I'd listened to most of this one (and faved it) before I read the blurb... glad I did - cos I can tell you that we think you nailed it. LOVE that bare piano and the plaintive "Say something".
