Sweet Tomorrow
Gary Fox
Sweet Tomorrow- Well, after the previous downer of a lyrical journey, how about a song of hope? Except, after a big downer, you may bit a bit leery, a bit closed off and nervous about taking a chance. So this song is a conversation between two people where it becomes clear, something is happening, and it might be ok to be hopeful about the future again: Come Back Sweet Tomorrow. But since it isn’t easy to just dive in, there is the caveat: This Bitter Better End. Musically, this song is just a little three chord wonder. The melody line originally I thought I would use one another song, but realized that it was completely off. I liked the melody so much that I dropped the other song and wrote around the melody. Now for the confession: I had no lyrics or melody for the mid section and it was the end of RPM. I debated killing the part, but the song needed it. So, I completely B-S’d the part by singing titles from my previous RPM albums. It’s a total cop-out, and doesn’t fit the song theme at all, but if you didn’t know this, you probably wouldn’t notice at all. Musically they fit, so… so be it. That’s what happens when you run out of time.
