When I Believed In Christmas

WHEN I BELIEVED IN CHRISTMAS

When I was a kid
going home on the bus
we would sing Christmas songs
all the way to our stop
and we never asked questions
or doubted the things
we were told by our
parents or teachers or politicians.
How I wish I could still
believe like that today.

When I believed in Christmas
When I believed in you
When I believed the sun would
come up every day
life was new.
Now I am old. The story’s been told

When I was a kid
coming home on the school bus
We’d sing Christmas songs

We’d sing Joy To The World
and Come Let Us Adore Him
and never stop once to examine the thot

I could still believe like that today…
