THE INAPPROPRIATE QUESTION 121411 - SUNDAY AFTERNOON
The Inappropriate Question
G C/Gbass
She said, “I can see that you’re hurting.
And I can see that you are wearing a ring.
Perhaps an inappropriate question,
but I’d like to ask you something.
Soon I will be a grand mother
I have a husband that I’ve loved for years
But lately I’ve thought a thought that I’ve fought
a thought that’s turned my questions to fears
You see, today I was running some errands
Farmer’s market out west of our town
But before I got there, the thot in the air
Maybe I’d not turn around
How do you answer a question when the
answers are multiple choice
and how do you handle temptation
without losing the ring in your voice?”
And then she wrapped her two arms around me
and I wrapped my arms around her
And then she said, “Take a deep breath.”
and my memory of that breath is clear.
How do we know that a promise
is anything more than a wish
tho honestly thought, a truth it is not
any more than a plate is a dish.
And I said, “There’s a song in this meeting
and if you can’t write it, I will
and I promise I won’t sing it in front
of the man that is loving you still.”
How do we know that a promise
is anything more than a wish
tho honestly tho, a truth it is not
any more than a plate is a dish.

Brilliant. "How do we know that a promise is anything more than a wish..." Woo This lonely little song needs a lot more attention.
