GENE
James Michael Taylor
This song tells about a guy I know named Gene.
GENE
Gene had a girlfriend
The band would play and they would dance
She was tall and Gene was tall
A lovely late romance
They’d smile and hold each other
They’d sit and share a drink
Holding hands, they’d come and go
And I’d sit there and think
What a lovely congugation
Sweet addition to a scene
Maybe I could be happy
If I was more like Gene
She was so enthusiastic
A fine contrast to his calm
She the song of praise
He, more like a psalm
Gene had a girlfriend
I would watch as they would dance
She stood tall and Gene stood tall
A lovely second chance
Then one night I saw Gene
He looked fine but he was alone
“She went back to her husband, “
So he would move on
There was no solom anguish
No new sad song to sing
I sat there in amazement
Why couldn’t I be more like Gene?
Gene’s gone back to playing Beatles songs
He learns them note for note
Gene has an ambition
To learn every song the Beatles wrote
And I suspect he’ll do it
If Gene lives long enough
Because Gene has found that Beatles songs
Are something everybody loves…

If you don’t have Asperger’s syndrome or what is now known in the US as Autism Level 1 — I’ll eat my hat. It’s not to alarm or upset you, I just think we’re so like minded and you show so many traits. Your musical gift would then make you what’s called ‘twice exceptional.’ Look into it and see if it ‘vibes.’ Melbourne Vicki
You are a proof for my conviction that a good lyric is a requirement for a good song. All your lyrics are great IMO, and so are your songs.
Your lyrics are wonderful. This is so poignant.
