Bethan, thanks so much! My "Band" is my computer - I used a program called "Band-In-A-Box" It makes it easier for people of limited abilities like myself to still put songs together. After I come up with a song on my guitar, I plug the chords in. I can change the tempo. Then I click on a button that will try out the song in different pre-set styles (variations on jazz, country, folk, pop, rock, soul, reggae, classical, new age, etc etc). I look for the one that's closest to what I'm hearing in my head. From there it can be tweaked with rests, holds, muted istruments, switched instruments, etc until it's even closer to what I want. It's good enough to get a good sketch of what I'm thinking the song should sound like. One new thing with these last two songs - instead of midi instruments, the program has "styles" using actual recorded instruments, so the drums, guitar, fiddle, etc are not midi! Anyway, I then I use Power Tracks to import the music and add lead and harmony tracks.
Audience laughed because I was introducing my netbook as "my band." The track was made using "band-in-the-box" since I don't have any real music-programming or multi-instrumentalist skills. :) Got my 12-yr old daughter to join us on this one…

First song from our first time performing in a concert setting. We were the opening act to the opening act to the main act for a benefit concert at our church. We raised $12,000! So here it is, warts and all! (We were nervous!)
Bethan wanted to make a lullaby for her new grandson and asked me for to make a music track for her to sing to.
Tess added 2 extra riffs and pitched it down as well. She also did the mixing and the vocal arrangement.

The story of Elisha and Elijah. We sang this in church this morning. We got my daughter to play a clarinet solo for it. She's only been playing for 5 months, so we're really proud of her and excited to have one more way to "color" our music.
Another Live performance with former band mates in Scartaglen back in 1988 on the NPR show Mountain Stage. This time a piece of Gaelic mouth music followed by 3 reels. Maybe the most complex arrangement of a set of tunes that we ever did.
Great! You know, I first heard Clannad listening to the U2 Red Rocks concert on Showtime (My folks didn't actually subscribe to Showtime, so the picture was scrambled - but the audio was clear!). They had such lovely atmospherics, they grabbed my attention right away, even though I didn't understand a word. To my delight, in going through the back catalog, I was exposed to their acoustic, traditional music - the kind of music you played. It's a joy to hear your performances! Aloha!

Just a fun song for my mother-in-law, who loves butterflies (I hope!). After years and years of freedom, she is once again "mommy" to 4 more people and 4 more cats (she already has 6!) and always tries to make us feel welcomed and comfortable…
An unusual traditional tune from the first Scartaglen album way back in 1984. Going through stuff the other day and ran across the LP and couldn't even remember the tune or having recorded it. I played guitar on this track
